ONE YEAR OUT:
How/where did you get engaged?
We got engaged in Seattle, Washington. Nista’s family was celebrating Thanksgiving a week early while Ross stayed back in Florida because of work. But the truth was that he had been secretly planning a proposal. After a bit of trickery, he surprised Nista by showing up at the front door of her sister’s house in Seattle and asked her to marry him!
What are you most excited about for your wedding day?
Getting married! Also, celebrating with our close friends and family.
What aspect are you excited to plan the most? (Ceremony, food & beverages, photographer, DJ)
We are most excited for the food tasting and the possibility of a dessert bar!
A FEW MONTHS OUT / PLANNING PROCESS:
How do you feel the planning is going?
Overall planning is going well. It does get stressful at times. Sometimes Nista was indecisive about a decision, so I would make it and then she would change her mind. We go back and forth but ultimately, we come to a final decision together!
What have you found to be more difficult than you expected?
It is definitely the price of planning a wedding and staying within that budget!
What has been more fun about the process than you expected?
The dessert tasting. We finalized our personal cake with Morgan Hunter, so yummy, and are doing a fun dessert bar for our guests. We look forward to the food tasting with the venue!
WEDDING DAY:
What was the best, most memorable part of your big day?
The first look! It was great to be together before the ceremony and have the opportunity to read our private vows to each other.
If you could change one or two things about your event, what would they be?
Nothing! Everything was perfect. The staff and our coordinator, David, did an amazing job!
Is there any advice you would give other couples planning their event that you wish some-one had told you?
We planned the wedding ourselves in the beginning, which was stressful. I would definitely reach out to others to help, whether It’s close friends, family, or even a wedding planner! We just didn’t know what we didn’t know. Towards the end, having David step in and help with coordination with the venue and all the final details REALLY helped alleviate any stress.
