An Interview with Orlando Marquee & Décor’s Darrin Schifrel.

At Dubsdread Catering we are proud to become dedicated members of your event team and are happy to share our knowledge and experience about planning for your big event, including finding the right vendor partners for your unique needs. Orlando Marquee & Décor’s owners have been in the wedding and party rental business in for more than 28 years. In 2021, they saw a need to for a marquee letter rental company that would offer a superior product and service as well as a unique neon product that weren’t available in the Central Florida area. The goal is to elevate your event to the next level by adding a unique and personalized touch with marquee letters, numbers, and balloon decor to add a special touch of glamor to weddings, create a festive and fun atmosphere for a party, or looking to bring that wow factor to a corporate event.

Here Orlando Marquee & Décor’s Darrin Schifrel, Owner and Chief Support Guru, shares his experience and answers to some frequently asked questions:     

How long has your company been in the industry?

We’ve been in the wedding and party rental services business since 2001. We started this venture in 2021 when we saw a new need.

What is your favorite part of the planning process?

It’s a collaborative experience with our clients and the back and forth of ideas and then getting creative and helping with suggestions for fun designs that will look amazing for an event.

What kind of packages do you offer? 

Our balloon packages vary depending on what is needed, how many pieces, and even the sizes and styles used. However, the rental rates for our marquees, signs, and letters is standard and is listed on our website so you can mix and match and play with styles and ideas while having a good idea of how to budget for what you want. 

What advice do you give to couples when choosing a rental company? 

Look for a company with a lot of experience in their field and that your other vendors are familiar with. For us, we get recommendations from many photographers to couples because they are familiar with our work and love the “wow” factor that can be added to their photos or event planners because they know we can transform an underutilized or “dead” area with something that engages and adds fun and dimension. Also, quick response from the beginning is also important. You do not want to have to wait too long to hear back from a vendor to start with, and it could be indicative of a very frustrating experience from start to finish.

How would you describe your company? 

We have a lot of experience in the industry, an impeccable reputation for service, we truly love what we do, and care about our clients’ events. We treat each event as if it’s our own and we adhere to the saying, “We are only as good as our last event.” Our goal is always to go above and beyond. 

How far in advance do you recommend clients book your services for their event? 

It does help to have an event booked as far in advance as possible. If you have booked your venue and your photographer and it’s time to start thinking about flowers and linens, that’s probably a great time to reach out to us. For social events, parties, and corporate events, we understand that those timeframes are usually compressed. We realize everyone has different time schedules, so we encourage potential clients to reach out and ask, we’ll see what we can do!
