Pre-Wedding Experiences: A Love Story & Proposal
How did you two meet?
We met at the gym. Thomas and I both have a background in sports, so staying active is a big part of our lives. Meeting at the gym just seemed like fate.
When did you know you had found “the one”?
I don’t think there was a specific moment where I had a big realization. It happened little by little over time, where we just perfectly melded our lives together and we couldn’t imagine being apart.
Tell us about the proposal! Where did it happen and how did it go?
It happened in the Bahamas. We were on a cruise with friends from work, and Thomas got them in on the surprise. It was a private island in the Bahamas with the waves crashing behind us. It was perfect.
Was there a special meaning behind your engagement ring or proposal location?
We had previously been on a cruise to this island, so it was a fun spot for us. Thomas made it extra special by making sure it was a total surprise.

Wedding Planning Journey
What was your overall vision or theme for the wedding?
Our vision for the wedding was garden/wildflower themed. We wanted it to be very nature-based, with all the beauty that Central Florida has to offer.
What made you choose Events by Dubsdread?
We loved that Dubsdread had the intimate package. That was the perfect package for our wedding dreams. We always imagined a very small wedding with our closest friends and family, and Dubsdread made that come to life.
What were your top 3 priorities during the planning process?
During wedding planning, my biggest priorities were keeping stress low, making sure Thomas and I stayed on the same page, and making the experience overall enjoyable.
Did you work with a planner or coordinate the wedding yourselves?
David with Dubsdread was our day-of coordinator, and he made everything a breeze. He had the answer to any question we asked, he was ready with suggestions and happy to help in any way.
How did you stay organized and manage stress during the planning process?
We took it bit by bit, making decisions about vendors and plans one at a time. This kept it organized and easy to manage without being overwhelmed.
Wedding Style & Details
Describe your wedding day look—what did you wear and why did you choose it?
I wore a Jenny Yoo NYC dress. I loved the simplicity of the dress and the minimalist style, which I added my own twist to with alterations.
How did you choose your wedding colors, florals, and décor?
We did not pick any specific colors, just overall floral colors, which I matched to the color of my bouquet. We kept it very simple and classy.
Were there any DIY or personalized elements you included?
I assembled the bud vases myself with bulk flowers. I also made place cards for the guests with their names and a ribbon that was placed at each table setting. My guests loved this personal touch!
Did you have a favorite vendor or must-have detail?
I can’t pick a favorite vendor, as everyone who had a part in putting our wedding together was lovely. We loved having a Polaroid camera for our guest book. Being able to look back and see our guests having a good time and wishing us well definitely put a smile on our faces.
Wedding Ceremony & Reception
What was the most memorable moment of the day?
The most memorable moment was when I started to walk down the aisle towards Thomas. It had started raining about 20 minutes before our ceremony. As soon as I started walking with my father and saw Thomas, the rain stopped, and the sun started shining. It felt like a fairytale.
Did you do a first look? Why or why not?
We did not do a first look; we decided to do a first touch with private vows. We wanted to leave the reveal for the big moment during the ceremony.
What songs did you choose for your ceremony, first dance, etc.?
Our recessional song was Stargazing; it was such an upbeat song that we wanted for a happy moment. Our first dance song was Take Forever by Cooper Alan.
How did you make the reception fun and unique for your guests?
Our reception was very personal with such a limited guest count. We were able to talk to and make memories with each and every one of our guests, which I believe is very special.

Wedding Advice & Reflection
What was your favorite part of the entire day?
Our favorite part of the day was the ceremony, where the sun came out and the rain stopped. This made it feel like fate. We got our “good luck” rain out of the way, and we were able to enjoy our ceremony outdoors.
If you could relive one moment, what would it be?
I would love to relive our first dance; it was magical having our friends and family gathered around to celebrate and share in our love. It was a magical moment.
Is there anything you would change about your wedding/wedding day?
I wouldn’t change a single thing about our wedding day. Everyone at Dubsdread and our other vendors made it a perfect day.
What advice would you give to other couples planning a wedding?
I would recommend Dubsdread & Mead Garden to anyone looking for a beautiful outdoor venue. The food is delicious, the venues are beautiful, and the staff is incredible.

Wedding Photo Tips
Do you have a favorite wedding photo? What’s the story behind it?
Ana did such an incredible job with each and every photo, but this one captured the beauty of the venue, and since it’s full-length, you get to see our complete outfits. It’s absolutely perfect.
Any advice for couples on working with photographers?
We got so lucky to work with Ana. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a fabulous wedding photographer. She communicated well and was very knowledgeable with poses and such.
Anything you’d like to add?
We had an incredible time and experience with our wedding at Mead Garden. I would highly recommend it to anyone in the Central Florida area for a perfect garden or outdoor wedding!
